TJ Christofore of Take 5

Take 5 has been touring North America as Britney Spears' opening act and making headlines themselves. We caught up with TJ Christofore before a show to talk about their success, fans and what he looks for in a girl.

Where is your biggest fanbase in the world?
TJ Christofore: We haven't been to Asia in a while, but I think in all our careers when we were in Asia, it was huge! We did huge venues there and went gold and Platinum in Asia. We haven't done that yet here but you know as of right now, that's been our biggest so far.

What would you be doing if you weren't in Take 5?
I don't know. I mean, I'm sure I'd still be doing something in the music industry, probably still be playing hockey. Played hockey since I was 4-years old. Theater dancing, that kind of stuff.

Can you tell me what a typical day on the road is like?
Well, today we got into Toronto about 6 in the morning. We drove through the night and got here around six in the morning. At 7:45, we had to go to a TV show and then got back to the hotel. We had two interviews. Now we're on our way to a radio show and we're all on the phone with an interview and then after that we have the show and then two TV shows at the venue and then we drive to a TV show and then drive back. Then we drive to the next city and we'll probably get in around the same time.

And where does sleep fit into all that?
When we're driving. (Laughs)

What's your typical Take 5 fan like?
They're really dedicated usually. I mean, we're not huge in like the United States and that, but the fans that we do have are definitely really, really dedicated and follow us and you know, help us out on the internet, run fan clubs and that kind of stuff.

What's the nicest thing a fan has given to you?
An Italian gold and white gold bracelet. It matches the watch that I have...she was probably one of my biggest fans and knew exactly what kind of watch I had. She made a bracelet made to match my watch exactly.

And what's the strangest thing?
I think in Asia, but I got a peanut butter sandwich.

Did you eat it?
No. (Laughs)

What can fans expect from your upcoming album?
They can expect a different sound. I mean, like a lot of what Take 5 is about, but then a lot of new stuff. I think on this album, we've accomplished good upbeat songs where as on the last album the one thing we lacked was you know, hard hitting songs and I think we improved the ballets still even though on the last album, we had some killer ballets and still we got the mid tempos in there. A broad range of producer anyone from Diane Warrens, Timberland to Missy Elliot, so they're as huge range of produces on the album.

Describe the perfect girl for you.
Big lips. Not huge lips, just like you know, nice lips. Juicy lips, big eyes...big bright shiny eyes. The first thing I look for in a girl is her eyes. The perfect girl is just like you know someone pretty, nice, easy to talk to, honest.

Which one of the guys gets on your nerves the most?
Everybody kind of gets on each other. It's just kind of like five brothers confined in a bus for however long and it can get annoying. You know, it depends on where you end up sitting around. You've got the back lounge with the video games then you got the front lounge with the car playing junkies and then you got the middle part with people sleeping. Too much of anybody can just kind of you know bug you. But it’s just like a brotherly kind of thing.

And which part are you usually in?
Lately, I've been in the car playing Junkies.

When your on the road, what do you miss most?
I miss being home, driving. Sometimes I miss my friends and stuff. It's just the stupid stuff you know, friends, family, being at home, being able to sit down on your couch.

What kind of car do you have?
Audi 100. I'm actually buying a new one when I get back, probably get a 56 Mustang.

If you were an animal, what animal would you be?
Probably a monkey, because they look like they're having so much fun up in the trees.

What was your favorite concert you attended?
Third Eye Blind three years ago in Orlando.

What was your favorite concert you performed and why?
The Minnesota State Fair. It was cool, because a lot of my friends got to go.
